What is life?
Is it a precious gem that we admire
Is it valuable enough to desire?
Is it a wilted flower that blows away with the wind
And its significance is non-existent and despised by men
What do we do with this life that we have?
What is the truth behind my existence on this Earth?
Am I assigned a responsibility to carry out because of my birth
Should I pursue my dreams and fulfill my every desire
If my life was all about that, then I will just be a liar…..
Let me find a wall to write on so I can tell the true story of my life
From a cheerful child to a depressed soul, I lost my happiness
Picked out to be the target of bullying and cruel words
I kept my silence and refuse to speak up
As years pass by, only anger and depression built up inside
Breathe flows through my body to show signs that I am alive
But it does not matter to me because inside I already died
If it satisfies people, to deem me as a joke and a misfit
Then they will cheer at the news of my death……….
……..But must I give up my life because of people’s words
Leaving behind hopes and dreams unfulfilled for a lie
Abandoned my smile over what someone thinks about me
Is my life made valuable by people’s validation
Because they never gave it to me……..
Neither did my circumstances create me
Harsh words crush a spirit and a frown builds a sad demeanor
Kind words give healing and a smile brightens a whole day
Everyone has a choice to either live in the truth God speaks
Or die from harsh judgments, Satan’s lies, daunting regrets
After you spend this one life, there is no refund or exchange
So what does life mean……Take the chance given to live…..

In writing this poem for my book, I wanted to share a personal moment in my teens when I considered committed suicide. At that time, I was being talked about a lot and soon reached my breaking point. I felt I could not confine in anyway about what was going on with me but felt that my life was of no value. Since I am writing this today, you can confirm that I did not go through with it. My smile is a lesson for others to not give up on your life. You are meant to thrive. You are meant to be love and accepted. You are definitely cherished! I hope you enjoyed this poetic piece and feel free to share it with someone that needs it…
