I am not like some girls
Who’s chasing after fairy-tales
Dreaming of a pretty, white dress
Walking down the aisle with joy
Gazing at her husband happily
Later to find out that’s not reality
I am not the perfect girl
Not the image of an “ideal bride”
Gave myself away before “I do”
White is not my attire but red pain
Adorned with scars from my past
No cute kittens or rainbows there
Not looking for a Prince Charming
Longing for a God-made connection
Man of faith that embrace my scars
Taking my hand to surpass limits
Exhibiting ways of royalty in our home
Whence by the Word of God we rule
Wondering if I truly deserve that man
Or the one my past reminds me of
As little girls, we played house with dolls
But never imitated life’s growing pains
What is the rush in finding my soulmate
My biological clock is not a real factor
And if you gotten anything in life…….
……………….You first had to wait….
Waiting may sound like an outdated song
For my ears, it’s a soothing, peaceful melody
I draw near to my Savior’s arms
Allow Him to wipe my tears of distress
Feel the touch of his healing power
Reveal my hurt to be clothed in freedom
Freedom to be me
As I wait for my King
Freedom to learn and grow
As I wait for wedding bliss
Freedom to live my purpose
As I wait for a holy union
With Jesus, I lack nothing at all
I can still smile without a mate
Not going to be bitter or sad
Envying others as they marry
If you ask if I am dating
I’ll simply say…..
I Am In Waiting…..
