Free From the Hurt

Don’t give your attention to past ________.

You can fill in the blank. Distractions come in many forms. When you are trying to work towards becoming a better person or achieving a specific goal, there’s always an opportunity to give in to the Past. You were disappointed in the past, so you give in to that past hurt and never try a new thing. You were abused in the past by an ex-lover, (which is NOT LOVE), so you give in to that past hurt and never attempt to be in a loving relationship. You were looked over in the past, so you give in to that past hurt and never step outside of your comfort zone to meet new people. Hurt has a language, and oftentimes we allow it to talk to us during our attempt to overcome the hurt. When I focus on “what went wrong” and “who did what”, then I’m giving up my power to choose freedom. The other day, I talked about facing what happened in your life because confrontation allows us to see a situation for what it is. When we choose not to confront, we become stagnant in the “hurt”.

Yes, I know people who have experienced more crazier things in their lives, but the truth is that ALL of us can feel hurt. We know what it smells like, what it looks like, and what it sounds like, but would it be wonderful to become free from it. Do feel at peace and finally smile again? Here is something else to think about. Some of us may have gone through our own personal healing process, but yet that painful memory of that past hurt seems to make a “house call” every now and then to your life. When it starts to knock at the door of your heart, choose not to answer the door. Is it worth going back through that cycle of self-pity? Is it worth staying up all night worrying about something in the past? Are you stressing over something unnecessarily? These are serious questions that each person, (including myself), has to ask themselves when we refuse to let go of “what was”. Yes, Hurt is real, but Healing is too. I would like to end with this, John 8:36: So if the Son sets you free, you are truly free. (NLT)

Enjoy your day overcomers! As always, feel free to leave your thoughts!

About Me

Hi..My name is ShuCora Walker. No, I am not the woman in the picture, but my words represent people like her. People who love good conversations. People who enjoy sharing their life stories. People who tell the truth to not only inspire but to heal, learn, and grow. I have been writing since my preteen years and found peace in letting my heart bleed out on the paper through my words. The focus of my writing has always been to share stories of triumph, struggles, and faith because God is the reason why I write. I remember at one point that I wanted to take my life, but God deemed it not to be because He still had a purpose for my life. Now, I am using my words to share my life journey so others can learn from it. Yes, one day I plan to open up this platform to other writers so we can continue to learn from different experiences of life. So, this is a space for anyone seeking to live a life of real freedom and enjoy some good moments along the way…
