This moment of time has been preset for me
Stepping into the light of my destiny with a YES
Once indulged in youthful vanities well into my 20s
Deceived by the youthfulness of living life on my own
Lived the life of rebel chick; Paid the price of disobedience
After the drama and the mistakes…what do I have left?
My dignity. My pride. Or do I need to walk in integrity
So, I abandon the lies of too late and embrace MY NOW
NOW, I turned the growing pains into SHINING DIAMONDS
NOW, I stripped off old expectations and LIVE MINE

I wrote this poem to commemorate my decision to “start living”. It may sound weird, but if you ever felt like that you could be doing something else with your life outside of the ‘daily grind’ then this poem is for you. There is more to life, and one thing I will not do is live in regret. Sometimes we are pushed to believe that our “20s” are the golden years…you have to get married in your “20s”…you have to start a business in your “20s”….you have to literally accomplish all of your dreams in your 20s. It’s not a bad thing if you have done those things in your 20s, but life does not start at your 20s. It starts whenever you decide to start living. Don’t be fooled thinking it’s too late for you. You can still accomplish a whole lot with your life IF YOU CHOOSE TO. So don’t waste the rest of the year, push forward.
