“Peace of mind makes the body healthy, but jealousy is like a cancer.” Proverbs 14:30, GNT
I found something interesting about jealousy. Jealousy is one of those emotions that is irrational or lack reasoning. Sometimes we do not know why people are jealous of us, or why we are jealous of others but one thing I do know is that jealousy causes you to lack judgment of your own life. Let me define judgement here. Judgement is the ability to make a reasonable decision or come to a sensible conclusion, (according to Google). I am starting to believe that some of us have not judged our own abilities to find peace in what we can do with our own life. Judgement is simply coming to a conclusion. What have you concluded about your own life? Are you thankful for where you are or what you have? Navigating through life from a place of fear and from a place of “lack” will have you annihilating your own ambitions, desires, and future. Jealousy will kill the desire in you to want what’s best for your life because your attention is on what someone else have in theirs.
I do not know what people have done to get where they are in life. I do not know the testimony or story behind another person’s success. I definitely cannot determine a person’s happiness based off all the “pretty” pictures that post on social media because I do not know what is occurring behind closed doors. So, what is the point of harboring jealousy when you and I have been blessed with a life of our own to live out? Jealousy will eat up a person until there is nothing left of them. I am not speaking physically (although tragically it happens), but emotionally, financially, spiritually, and creatively. I am not trying to “keep up with the Joneses”, but I am focusing on becoming the authentic person I was designed to be.
Do not let jealousy kill you….
